We all have spoken about alternate sources of energy, green energy that will not impact the environment as much as traditional sources do.
Lately, there have been research on the human body motion that is being used to charge iPods etc. either as in the case of women, using their breast movement, or for that matter for people who can charge their phones while walking etc. This research report here is in the same direction. In India, there are more humans than you want, at one place.
So in the planning for creating walkways or skyways, which majority of the low income group of people will be using the most, why not tap the energy that will be generated by footfalls?
If one sits down to think of a suitable way to capture the pressure that their footsteps will generate on the walkway, capture this energy and use it to power some lights etc. along the way, it could prove a utility value though commercial success might not be the possibility immediately. Similar devices could be installed in airports, where so many people walk, and this energy could be used to power the lights there.
Someone has said, nothing is impossible, but it is when the 'commercialization' that happens, that the possible is rendered impossible. Alas!! the world is driven by the intention to create more money.
I wish the currency and networth numbers in bank balances could help generate more energy just on the basis of those numbers.
Wishful thinking eh!!
