Good Morning Sir,

I am Aparajita Tripathi, working as a software developer(Technical Associate TG-1) in Tech Mahindra in BT-01 (Avalon Dev).

I joined TechM as an ITPian on 13th July 2007 at Noida and was shifted to Mumbai on 13th November 2007. I had resigned on 9th July and my last day in TechM is 13th August 2009.

I have some things to pinpoint.

As per some vague company policy (which I haven’t still seen in writing and have only heard of it from everybody), I will NOT be given the Variable pay for the last quarter, which incidentally is the quarter OUTSIDE by resignation period and during which I have not only worked but worked in double shifts.

During the last two years, I have worked to my utmost limits, stretching the definitions of a ‘24*7’ timeline. I have been awarded with two awards during this tenure namely, A cookie, and The Rising Star. I have worked on key billing projects for BT like DRP, VAT Rate change and for all these worked non-stop 24*7. I was found in office at all unearthly hours never taking leaves albeit when I had to go to my hometown. My seniors will concur that I never let the time, or illness, or food meddle with the work I put in. In the last quarter I worked double shifts, both as a developer and as support.

I never demanded for anything during this two years of stay. Never once did I ask for onsite or allowance or leave or comp off. And now, when its time to go, I am being denied of my basic right- the right to the payment for the work I have done.

You can say its company policy that variable pay will not be disbursed if I am in the notice period. Well then, shouldn’t the company follow strict timelines in that regard? Since it is the payment for the last quarter, it should have been disbursed then and I would have got it but just because the company chose to delay the whole process, I am being denied of it.

It doesn’t matter whatever the amount is. This policy speaks volumes about the carelessness of the company w.r.t its employees. As such, no matter how many gall up surveys you take, your employee satisfaction index will be a measly 3.5 and less as it has always been. Tech Mahindra is known as a bad paymaster, but at least you shouldn’t deny what the employee rightly deserves.

In fact, Look at another point. Appraisal process had started in March and by April end it was complete and till today, (August), we haven’t got our increment letters. Just because the company decides to waste more than half the year in its appraisal program, we employees are denied of our increment for the work we have put in.

All this can be easily answered in one line. “Company Policy”, but isnt this INJUSTICE disguised as company policy?
